Founded by wildlife photographer, Xtina Parks, Roam Africa Conservation is a nonprofit organization established to support and advance wildlife conservation, ecological research, and community-based environmental stewardship across the African continent. Our mission is to protect biodiversity, preserve critical habitats, and ensure the long-term survival of species through science-based conservation strategies and inclusive, community-led initiatives.
We are dedicated to the protection and regeneration of African ecosystems through a multi-faceted approach that includes wildlife research, habitat restoration, sustainable land management, and conservation education. Roam Africa Conservation works directly with local communities, conservation agencies, academic institutions, and international partners to implement projects that not only benefit wildlife but also improve the well-being and resilience of people living in and around protected areas.
Our specific activities include conducting and supporting scientific research on endangered species, including population monitoring, translocation logistics, genetic diversity, and predator-prey dynamics. We assist parks and reserves in collecting essential data through the deployment of technologies such as GPS collars, camera traps, and remote monitoring systems. The findings from these studies are used to inform wildlife management plans and influence national conservation policy.
In addition to field research, Roam Africa Conservation is committed to creating wildlife corridors and safe migratory routes, particularly in transboundary areas. These corridors are essential for species such as elephants, wild dogs, and rhinos, whose survival depends on the ability to move freely between habitats. We actively collaborate with landowners, traditional leaders, governments, and other NGOs to secure these routes and mitigate human-wildlife conflict through integrated land-use planning, education, and employment opportunities in conservation-based eco-tourism.
Education and outreach are also central to our mission. We develop programs and materials to raise awareness about environmental issues, wildlife behavior, and conservation ethics among both local populations and international audiences. We work with schools, youth organizations, and universities to foster a new generation of conservation leaders and to bridge the gap between traditional ecological knowledge and modern science.
Roam Africa Conservation may provide scholarships, internships, and training for students and conservation practitioners in Africa to build capacity in the field. We also document and share the stories of our work through film, photography, and digital media to inspire broader engagement in conservation and to advocate for effective environmental policy.
Our organization is committed to ethical and transparent practices and seeks to maximize the impact of every dollar through strong partnerships, measurable outcomes, and a deep respect for both people and nature. All activities of Roam Africa Conservation are undertaken exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
